Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic. They are kinda crazy and a totally fun to read.
Top ten word/ topics that make me not pick up a book
- Autobiography: Uhm. Yeah..I’ll pass
- Motherhood: Not something I’m drawn to. I like the more developing love….
- Non-ficton: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Nope.
- Self- Help: I am not my mother. I like going into another world other than my own, not learning about all the different types of wheat or green smoothies.
- If you love (……) you’ll love this!: This almost immediately turns me off of the book, especially if the dot dot dots are Twilight.
- Badly behaving authors: This pretty much speaks for itself
- Audiobooks: I don’t have the attention span for this
- Ouija Boards: I can’t say why, but they scare the crap out of me.
- Erotica: I never have, nor will I ever, read this *cough* 50 Shads of Grey
- Animal Abuse: I. Just. Can’t. This will make me sob.

Great list. I know exactly what you mean by the Twilight references… It drives me CRAZY how often other books try and drop the name so readers will pick it up!

wow I agree with every single item in this list! My mom's obsessed with self help books as well and I honestly don't get it. Or non-fiction and autobiographies for that matter…

OOh nice ones! I can agree with most of them! I didn't think to pick genres or subgenres really. Don't know what I was thinking to be honest. I could've gone with a lot more than I did. As it is I only picked 5!
Definitely agree with that last one! One of my reads from like last month had something along these lines and I was in tears!

Great list! I also had autobiography on my list. I just am unable to finish those. I don't know why.

Yay! God…my best friends mom reads nothing but romance and my mother reads all this self help and yoga books. I love her..but her reading choices..not so much xD

*high five* I cannot read animal abuse. I love my pets too much. I saw this discovery penguin movie when I was 7 and I ran out of the theater crying. It was so traumatizing….

Great list Jackie! Yeah, not a fan of motherhood type stuff either. I don't have kids and am not sure if I ever will, so blah to that. Self-help books? BORING. I actually don't mind the If you love this… line. I've actually found some really great books that way. But I can understand your hesitation.
